Pistol shrimp get their name from the bubble bullets they shoot with their claws. To give you an idea of how loud these “bullets” are, fighter jets have a decibel rating of roughly 130-150, and Pistol Shrimp has a decibel rating of a whopping 210! Now what’s so strange about pistol shrimp? They enjoy goby companions! Pistol Shrimp are nearly blind, so they like to buddy up with gobies as they protect the shrimp while they build a burrow to share. The perfect friendship.
