Lead / Manager – Tropical Fish Specialty Pet Store

Forest Lake Pets is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead or Manager to oversee daily operations with a strong focus on our aquatic departments. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about fish health, team leadership, and delivering excellent customer service in a specialty pet retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open and close the store following established checklists and procedures

• Delegate daily tasks to team members and ensure timely, accurate completion

• Oversee and manage all aquatic departments, including freshwater and saltwater livestock, systems, and maintenance

• Monitor fish health and administer medications according to established protocols

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for staff, customers, and animals

• Provide knowledgeable, friendly customer service with an emphasis on aquatic care and education

• Support and guide team members through clear communication and direction

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong customer service skills with a professional, approachable demeanor

• Clear and effective communication abilities

• Ability to give clear directions and lead by example

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities

• Tropical fish experience (professional or advanced hobbyist)

Compensation & Benefits:

• $18–$25 per hour, based on experience

• 3% Simple IRA employer match

Saturday requirement: Two to four Saturdays per month

Includes a $3/hour shift differential for Saturday shifts
